Things we like

Everyone’s hard at work on Storm, so I thought I’d drop in a quick post about some of the things that inspire the team, not just art, but comedy, science and general ’stuff’.

First up is the animator Swatpaz. His stuff doesn’t get anything like the attention it deserves. He creates surreal and sublimely funny characters in situations which defy description. You just have to watch them. DC Turner’s favourites are Brillso Thrillso and King of the Castle, but mine is this one:

We’re also currently enjoying Dean Burnett (and he likes us, yay!), the UK’s only stand-up comedy neuroscientist. Check out his blog, Science Digestive. Dean has written a series of letters ‘from’ science which those of you who agree with the sentiments of Storm are likely to enjoy. Check out ‘Dear Alternative Medicine‘ and Dear The Pope for starters.

Someone else we love is Taylor Mali, teacher and poet, particularly ‘What Teachers Make‘.

In the ’serious science’ section, this TED talk by Anthony Atala on organ regeneration is fascinating and inspiring.

Finally, I thought I’d drop in a link to DC Turner’s recent entry to the Skepchick Darwin Day art quest. He made an interactive Darwin’s beard which makes me laugh every time I click it.

Hope you enjoy these. Feel free to share your own links for things you like or things you think we’d like!

I guess the main reason his work isn’t appreciated is becuase most people are obsessed over anime. I myself love anime alot so I guess people tend to stick to one particular type of animation and not really eplore other types. That is what I kinda generally do and so do my friends.
