Here we answer some of the most frequently-asked questions about the Storm movie. We’ll keep adding as they crop up.
When will the final animation be released?
We don’t have a confirmed release date yet for various reasons, not least because we want to make sure it’s perfect first! We showed an unfinished version at TAM London 2010, and Storm gets its festival premiere at Animated Encounters in Bristol, UK, in November 2010, but various other festival commitments and rules mean we will not be able to post the finished animation until early 2011. We’re also still working on sound design and tweaking the animation – as this is a self-funded project our resources are limited so things can take a little extra time! Rest assured, you will be able to see Storm for free on YouTube once it’s finished.
Is it a full-length movie?
The poem Storm is nine minutes long, so the animation will also be nine minutes long, or thereabouts given the few extra seconds for end credits.
Where will the movie be released?
On YouTube! The main reason we’re doing this is to bring Storm to a wider audience, so ensuring it’s available worldwide, free of charge, is essential. If you want a hi-res version for your phone or PC, we’ll make it available on iTunes for a very small fee to help cover our costs. You can also see Storm at various film festivals around the UK and worldwide.
Can I put the trailer or finished movie on my website?
If you want to embed the trailer or the finished movie on your own website, please use the official YouTube links. Please do not copy the videos from YouTube. If you wish to discuss distribution, please email info (at) stormmovie.net
How is the film being financed?
The Storm team are professionals, many of whom have donated their time to the project free of charge. External production costs such as film prints are high, and the animation is happening thanks to the support of generous patrons and public donations. If you would like to contribute, please see our donate page.
